Transcript Welcome to Microsoft Word 2007, Basic Level 3, brought to you by WordLearningZone.com. I am your instructor, Richard Rost. Today's class will cover page setup, including the Page Layout tab, margins, paper size and orientation, columns, page breaks, line numbers, hyphenation, and lots more.

We will cover page backgrounds, including watermarks, page colors and borders, paragraph layout, indenting left and right, fine-tuning your indenting, and modifying the spacing before and after a paragraph. We will also discuss inserting pages, including the cover page gallery and inserting a blank page inside your document.

For hyperlinks, we will learn about automatic hyperlinks and how to make manual hyperlinks to email addresses, web pages, or other documents on your computer.

In headers and footers, we will look at the header and footer section of the page, the header and footer style gallery, and manually editing the header and footer. You will learn how to add page numbers to your documents.

We will also learn how to work with tables: inserting a table into our document, setting up rows and columns, inserting and deleting rows and columns, cell alignment, and manually resizing rows and columns in our table.

This lesson uses Microsoft Office Word 2007. If you are using Word 2003 or earlier, then you should visit my website and look for my Word tutorials that cover these older versions.

This class follows Word 2007 Basic Level 2. In that class, we covered Word views, Font Group commands, paragraph formatting, the Format Painter, styles and the Style Gallery, find and replace, and shrink to fit. It is strongly recommended that you take Level 2 before taking this class. If you do not know how to do any of the things I just mentioned, you really should consider taking Level 2 first.

This is the Basic Level 3 course for Microsoft Word 2007. This class is for the novice user who has little or no experience with Word beyond my Level 1 and 2 classes. My basic courses are designed for novice users who are new to Microsoft Word and just need to learn basic functionality. You will learn one good method for accomplishing most tasks, and we will save all the extraneous details for later.

The Expert Series is designed for users who are more comfortable with Word and want to learn more about the standard features and functions that most people use. We cover a lot of options, alternatives, shortcuts, tips and tricks, and really cover all the features of Word exhaustively.

Our Advanced Series is designed to teach you all the lesser-known features of Word, such as recording macros and creating data forms. These are features that not everyone uses on a daily basis but can really add power to your documents.

Finally, the Developer Series is designed to teach you how to program in Visual Basic for Applications with Microsoft Word to develop Word-based programs for your users, integrate Word with other Office applications, and so much more.

Each of my series is broken down into different levels. For example, the Basic Series started with Level 1, then Level 2, now Level 3 (that's this class), and next will come Level 4 and 5 and so on. Each level teaches you new and different topics in Microsoft Word, building on the lessons learned in previous levels.

Now let's take a more detailed look at what we are going to learn today.

In Lesson 1, we are going to learn about page setup. We are going to study the Page Layout tab and the Page Setup group. We are going to learn about margins, page orientation, paper size, and columns.

In Lesson 2, continuing with page setup, we are going to learn about page breaks, deleting page breaks, and column breaks.

In Lesson 3, we are going to learn about line numbering, automatic hyphenation, and how to give our newsletter that newspaper column look.

In Lesson 4, we are going to learn about different page background options such as creating a watermark, changing the page color, and setting up page borders.

In Lesson 5, we are going to study paragraph layout. We are going to learn more about indenting, fine-tuning our indents, right-side indents, and we are going to see how to manipulate the spacing before and after our paragraphs.

In Lesson 6, we are going to move to the Insert tab and look at the Pages group. I am going to show you the cover page gallery, how to insert a complete blank page, and another page break button.

In Lesson 7, we are going to learn about inserting hyperlinks: automatic hyperlinks that Word inserts for you, manual hyperlinks that we will create ourselves, hyperlinks to web pages and email addresses, and we are going to see how to create a watermark. This includes email addresses, documents, files on your hard drive, files on your network, and more.

In Lesson 8, we are going to learn how to insert a header and a footer for each page in our document. We are also going to learn about page numbering, so you can see page 1, page 2, and so on.

In Lesson 9, we are going to learn the basics of tables. I am going to teach you how to insert a table into your document. We will see how to use the Table Styles gallery, change the table colors, data entry, how to insert and delete rows and columns, and manipulate cell alignment.
