Just like in bodybuilding, failure is also a necessary experience for growth in our own lives, for if we're never tested to our limits, how will we know how strong we really are? How will we ever grow?
Hello, My name is Dan. I work for a public school district. I repair laptop computers for the students, teachers and staff. I built my own database to keep track of what I do. Im the only user of my database. Ive been building this for the past 2 years and Ive got a database that Im very proud of. However, Im using cascading combo boxes to select parts needed to repair the devices but when I bring up my report showing how many devices are awaiting parts. The 6 parts fields are showing the ID numbers and not the part names. Ive watched many videos trying to find a solution. The video of How to make multiple relationship joins to the same table. It is the closest one Ive found to fixing my problem. But bringing the tables into the query only works 3 times. I need it to work 6 times. My solution was to make 2 queries, one for the first 3 columns of parts and the second query to handle the other 3 columns. It works, but how can I get 2 queries into 1 report? Ive tried doing a Union query. That didnt work at all. Ive tried dlookup. That didn't work at all. Ive even tried dragging and dropping my 2 queries into my report, but I didnt like it because it changed the layout and looked bulky and weird. Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.

Need more info, how are your tables setup/related? Is it 6 different tables that run the parts? If so, that seems very excessive in most cases. What are the kind of options you are picking to cascade with? Do you even need any of that information other than the final part number/combo?

To Add to what Adam has said, I would create ONE query that brings all the files in the one query and add the Part Names from there tables.

Hi David and Sami. Thank you for responding.
Basically, 2 tables: One that has all the info about the laptop and the other a "Parts table" that has all the parts for the laptops.
My school has 2 makes (Dell & Lenovo), that's one combo box. But there are 4 different models. That's another combo box.
Then there are 6 combo boxes for the different parts to repair the laptops. (The kids are animals and never just break one thing.) It is essential that I see what laptop needs what parts and how many. I wish I could post photos, but I'm not a student.
