I have a file that has an ID which is auto-numbered. When I add a record (Using cut and Paste) the record is added but the ID field is not updated.
I've tried to import the records but Access is not recognizing the first record as a header and won't add the record. I've tried suggestions to correct that - but no success yet.
Solving either one or both of these issues will get me where I need to be.

Thank you for asking. I simply copy the cells from an excel file.
Since the auto number is the first field in the table, I place the cursor in the 2nd field and drag across and paste the 5 fields.
The table is updated correctly except the the auto number field is blank.

Try to click on the border of the second field, then click past
