I'm pretty sure most people agree that changing our clocks twice a year has outlived any usefulness it may have provided. That said, I'm also pretty sure you'll find a 50:50 split on how the problem should be fixed.
Personally, I'm in the camp of staying on DST year round. The late sunlit evenings in the summer outweighs the late morning darkness it would create in the winter. But just like politics, the opposition to my point of view is equally intense.
So once again we have two camps who are deadlocked on an issue.

We should just move the country to GMT. All of the locales can fight over the real issue, what time to start work, school, etc., since everyone will have to change. We will always know what time it is everywhere in the country.
Time zones were created in the name of coordination and efficiency, before the advent of global communication and commerce. It is time to let them go in the name of coordination and efficiency.
