Shouldn't you have set Allow Nulls for IsActive to False?
I have had problems with write conflicts in the past if the box is left checked for bit fields.

Same all kind of problems, I usually just set the default value but allow null would do the same or better.

What Kevin and Adam said. And the error it gives says it cannot write to the table and it does not give you any indication that it was the byte NULL value that caused the problem.
