I know the original post is old, but I didn't see any reply. Did you get help for this? If not, please try changing the number format on your affected cell(s) to General, first; then reformatting to the format you really sant in them. Also, make sue re the "=" sign if the FIRST CHARACTER in the formula cell. Make sure you don't even have any spaces in front of the "=" sign, as Excel reads spaces as text.
