Roberta, single quotes are a problem for ASP code. ASP interprets single quotes as part of the SQL string, which messes things up.

Oddly enough, you can fix the problem by turning every single quote into TWO single quotes:

X = Replace(X, "'", "''")

This will make your string look like this:

SELECT * FROM CustomerT WHERE LastName='O''Leary'

But that double-single-quote will tell the SQL compiler to look for an actual single quote character.

The same problem exists with DOUBLE quotes too:

SELECT * FROM TableT WHERE Saying="I said, ""Hi there!"""
