The dumbing down of America is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media... credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition... a kind of celebration of ignorance
What did you like: Absolutely everything! By far the best instructional course I have taken including MBA, and Executive level courses. The teaching of both the how and why including the good, better, and best methods is especially beneficial and effective.
What did you NOT like: Using the old theater mode. I like the ability to use full-screen. However, you used the zoom function quite well in providing a close-up view where necessary. This isn't much of a NOT like. It's minor.
How would you make it better: If it "ain't" broke don't mess with it. The only way to make the course better would be to add a staff to build the students database. But, then we wouldn't be students, we would be clients. :-)
Topics for the future: Add basic product and inventory management material for presenting some basic math functionality beyond the simple examples of quantity times cost and aggregate totals. I would add Lookup also. I understand these will be taught in later lessons but, a bit more in the beginner level would help my needs which are almost exclusively equation/formula/expression. I have no need for customer, employee or contact specific instruction.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Michael. I'm glad you enjoyed.
Yes, the old Theater mode is nowhere near as good as the newer courses, like the new Access Beginner 1 and my newer Developer lessons. Problem is those old videos were recorded at that lower resolution, so even if I update the web interface with the new design, the videos are still the same small size. I'm working on re-recording them, but it's extremely time consuming. I'd rather focus on developing new lessons.
Yeah, I get what you mean about building databases FOR you. I was in that business for years. Don't want to be in it anymore. I'd rather teach. I do have the Access Developer Network where you can post your job requests though.
The customer / employee / contact / order stuff that I build in the classes isn't for everyone. I get that. However it's an example that I use for teaching the material that almost everyone can relate to. Think of it like playing with Legos. All of the pieces are the same. I just show you how to put them together one way. You can make up other combinations yourself.
