Sound volume.

I have Windows Vista Home Basic 2007,RAM 1.00GB,processor ADM Athlon 64X2.I can't get much volume out of the speakers. What can I do to increase the volume? Thanks much!

Answer from Richard Rost:

Well, first make sure your speaker volume is turned up. You'd be surprised how many people try messing around with Windows settings and forget that a lot of speakers also have volume dials on them… unless they're the cheesy little cheap $5.00 PC speakers that don't have a volume dial.

Make sure your speakers are plugged in. Sometimes speakers will WORK if they're not powered, but you need to plug them in for their amplifier to provide extra kick. This one fooled me a few years ago. I could hear a little bit of sound, but they weren't LOUD until plugged in.

Now check Windows. If you click on the little speaker in the bottom-right corner of your TaskBar you can set the master volume control, but you should open up the mixer panel FULLY and make sure all of your volume slider controls are up to MAX.

I hope this helps. Anything else, and you might have a problem with your speakers. Try them on a different computer to be sure.
