full hard drive

Hi Richard,
My Windows XP computer has a 70 gig hard drive and has only 8 gig of space left. Is there an easy way to see what is using up all the space? For the longest time it had used only 35 gig and it has jumped to 62 gig used. My son and I have quite a bit of music but he must have loaded more new stuff than he realizes. He has his own "user" account. Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer from Richard Rost:

If you right-click on a folder and then select PROPERTIES, you'll get a count of how many files are in that folder and how much space it's taking up. You can use this technique to drill down and find where the files are that are taking up so much space. Yes, there are also 3rd party shareware utilities you can download that will do the same thing, but this works easiest. From what you're telling me, it sounds like you just need to clean off some media files. :)
