I have much of my old data stored on cd's using windows xp and windows 95, Now when I try to access theses using Windows Vista I cannot get to the data- the response being that Adobe cannot read "ss." files. I do not know what that means or how to get to my old tax files whish are on the cd's in question. Can you help me? Thanks for any advice.

Answer from Richard Rost:

I'm not sure what an "ss" file is, but any CD that you burned using Windows XP or 95 should be readable using Windows Vista or Windows 7. Try the CDs in a different PC to make sure they're readable. If you can open the CD drive up in Windows Explorer and browse the files, then the CDs should be OK.
