My PC, running Windows Vista, frequently freezes in which any button will not work. It fails to respond. This includes hyperlinks as well.

What I found that works is if I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del, and, of course, on Windows Vista, this brings up a Windows menu screen, in which I select Task Manager, and all seems to return to normal.

Now, my HDD was quite fragmented, so I degrag'd it, but it still continues. I have no clue what could be causing this, and perhaps you could be of assistance.

I understand you do not troubleshoot, and I am not asking you to do that; just, please, give me ideas and/or advice on how to possibly resolve this issue.

This is exactly why I don't troubleshoot… it could be ANYTHING from a bad memory chip to a software problem to a faulty keyboard connection (yes, I've seen it all). Random freezes in Windows are EXTREMELY difficult to troubleshoot. I'd start with a FRESH reformat and reinstallation of Windows. If the problem doesn't go away, it's likely hardware. Then you have to start swapping out components to see which one might be bad. You might also want to try upgrading to Windows 7. It has fewer problems than Vista. Aside from that, I wish you luck.
