I'm doing a bid sheet for products at work and I know how to multiply for on column, but I'm trying to make it so that when I enter the quantity and price in any column the answer is automatically multiplied out for me. For example, In the entire A column I put the name of the product I am wanting to purchase, in B I put the quantity for each, in C I put the price of each item, and in D I want the answer to show. How do I put a formula in so that I do not have to do a separate formula for each row and column? Answer from Richard Rost:
Since you didn't specify what version of Excel you're using, I'll assume you have 2007 or 2010. In this case, just turn your data into a TABLE and then Excel will automatically copy the formulas down for you as you enter in new rows on the bottom.
If you have an earlier version, just type in the formula once and then AutoFill it down as many rows as you think you'll need.
