Any advice on the best way to create my own animated gifs.
What tools do you use?

I don't have any instructions on creating animated GIFs on the site anywhere. It's not something that has come up. It would make a cool tutorial, though.

Personally, I use CorelDraw and Corel PhotoPaint to create my animated GIFs that you see around the web site (like the Live Chat flashing box, when it's on). I create the graphic in CorelDraw, modify it slightly once or twice to create different frames, and then copy those into PhotoPaint which has a real nice feature to turn them into an animated GIF.

You can do the same thing with Photoshop and ImageReady (which comes with Photoshop). Plus there are a million little shareware apps online that you can use to create AniGIFs as well. Just go to Download.com or your favorite software site and search for them.
