I apologize if this is the wrong forum or not a acceptable question. I have searched extensively on google, and I can't seem to find anything on this. Is it possible to trigger a relay or PLC from an access form using VBA or even a macro? If its possible, do you any suggestions of places to look for some tutorials? All I am trying to accomplish is triggering a relay or PLC to open a lock on a drawer essentially. Any direction would be greatly appreciated!
How do you connect to it usually?
Is there a COM interface?
WMI maybe?

Hi Alex. Thanks for the response. Im not 100% sure on that. I will have to ask our PLC expert about that. He is handling that side of this particular project. Is there a way to activate a 'push button' event to trigger a plc?

If the equipment comes with Windows software that controls it, you may look into having Access interface with that software. If it's non-Windows software or none at all, then it's very difficult if not impossible. Controlling one platform from another platform is always difficult, because you have to make the two "talk" to one another.

Thanks for the response Kevin. That makes sense. Thats kind of what our automation reps eluded too as well. I figured if there was some form of work around or 'cheat code' to accomplish this that someone here would know it. Thank you very much for the help guys!
