Windows Explorer Wont Run
Kevin Robertson

After installing the latest update on 2023-09-27 Explorer.exe refuses to run.
I have tried running it from Task Manager and from Command Prompt.
I even set a key in the Registry to try to force Explorer to run on start up (also didn't work).
I can't even open the Settings window to run Windows Update.
Any programs I want to use needs to be opened from Task Manager (which is not ideal).
Any ideas how to fix this issue.

I have also posted this on the Microsoft discussions page.

What Windows version are you running?

I'm running Win 11 and seeing other stuff. Such as I double click my Desktop Icon to open my db but it never loads. I see the .laccdb
Even if I go into explorer and double click the .accdb it won't open.
I have to open Access then db from the recent list.
You also can't delete the .laccdb file (no one else is in the db but me) with out killing the task or signing out and in again.

Typical MS BS.  Push it out and see what we break then we'll go back and fix things. GRRRR...

Running Windows 11.
I think there must be an issue with the latest update.
I have no Desktop, icons or Taskbar. Explorer just refuses to run.

Yea, let your customers test for you, I always keep my main PC one upgrade behind just for this reason. Back when I had a choice we would do that with QuickBooks too, they're also really bad at "customer testing", now you don't get a choice though with the subscription, it eventually forces it on you =(.

Update: After almost 2 days of searching online and trying several methods to get things working, Explorer.exe has finally loaded. Not totally sure why it's now working but definitely relieved. Probably going to wait a week or two before applying update from now on.
