Specific Form inside a Form

Good Morning Richard.

I have been watching your videos for some time now and tbh have learned so much on access. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou.

I cant say thankyou enough as only by watching your videos I have been able to make, after so many tries, a database to keep record of a product I make which has 2 serial numbers and need to keep traceability for warranty reasons.

Being self employed and only just starting I don't have thousands of pounds for software, and with my reasonable knowledge and your videos, I have cracked it.

Now I am looking into producing my second product, one of my own, I want to make a database for BOM, bill of materials, and be able to keep an inventory of parts, which form sub-assemblies, which will then form the final product.

For example. I stock electronic components, so I got everything I need to do that ok.
These components are used in more than one sub assembly which  need to have a separate part number.
Then the final product is built up of these sub-assemblies all put together.
For me to build x many final products I need to know if I need to reorder any parts, which make up the sub-assemblies.

I made a form to show all the bom details, but need to be able to pick from a list of stock parts, but have it based on a category, so I can then make a final product which would show in that category and not have to trawl through resistors and diodes and such. Also I need to be able to create picking lists for assemblies, and see how many of what I have in stock, and if I create a product or assembly, then I can deduct the parts used from what I show as on hand stock automatically.

I have searched all your videos but cant find one that will stop me going bald.

Hope you can help a one man band trying my best.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi Phil
What you are trying to do is a perfect application for an Access DB. Richard has covered most of what you want to do in many scattered videos as well as his structured classes.

I would do the following:

1) join as a member so you can get access to the extended cut videos where much of what you need is.
2) start talking his courses.
3) use the 'lndex' feature to search the library of videos.
4) conceder paying someone to at least design the db structure for you.

Meanwhile look at these videos
