Expression Web or Adobe Dreamweaver

Dear Richard,

I would like to put my ASP and HTML knowledge that i learnt from you to practice. However, i am getting one challenge. I can't seem to find FrontPage support any more. According to Godaddy, FrontPage Extensions are not supported with IIS 7 and Web hosting plans. This can only be set up on their legacy hosting plans using Linux or IIS 6. They continue to say that i can not downgrade to IIS 6 once i have completed my upgrade.

The options i have now are to use "Expression Studio 4 Web Professional", "Adobe Dreamweaver" or whatever other option that you may recommend.

My question is: which of the two i.e., "Expression Studio 4 Web Professional", "Adobe Dreamweaver" is closest to the ASP/FrontPage/HTML lessons that you have produced? If possible, I need something that i will not give me trouble following with along with the examples you demonstrate in the lessons.
Would you recommend another option other than the two above?

Thank you!

MICAH

Reply from Richard Rost:

Go with Expression Web. It's almost exactly the same as Frontpage.

You don't need FP Server Extensions anymore. You just won't be able to edit your web site "in place" like you can with them. It's not a big deal. You'll just use FTP to upload and download your pages, keeping a local copy of your web on your PC.

As you edit each page, just right-click on it and say "publish" and it sends it up to the server.

And yes, go with the IIS7 option that GoDaddy has. It's much more stable than IIS6.
