In Excel 2010 I have made a 3 column spreadsheet and would like to be able to scan numbers from barcodes into the rows. How do I get the spreadsheet to jump from Column A row1 to Column B row1 then to Column C row 1, and after that third scan to return to Column A but row 2.
Reply from Richard Rost:
Anthony, most barcode scanners that I've used can be set to automatically send a TAB or ENTER key when they're done scanning. Check your barcode setup manual.
So if you program your scanner to send a TAB when you're done, it will move across the columns. Now, moving DOWN and to the start of the next ROW will require some programming. You'd have to set up a custom macro or some VBA to handle this.
It's more than I can go into here, but if you really need help with this, you can submit a request via my TechHelp page and I'll try to find some time.
