Classic ASP Include Resolver

In this Classic ASP tutorial, I'm going to show you how I created a VSCode Extension to combine your .asp / .inc / .asa files into a single view so it's easier to digest the complete output of your code.

Details

Run Classic ASP: Open Resolved Include Preview to open a side-by-side virtual document where  and  directives are resolved. You can also click the preview button in the editor title (top-right) when an .asp, .asa, or .inc file is active.

The preview auto-refreshes when you edit, create, delete, or save the main ASP file or included .asp, .asa, and .inc files. The preview also uses the same language mode as the source document so syntax highlighting is preserved. Each resolved include block is annotated with its source file path, and you can click the path to open that include file based on your configured open side.

Settings

• classicAsp.includeOpenSide (left | right, default left)
  • left: open clicked include files in the source editor group
  • right: open clicked include files beside the preview
