IntroIn this lesson, you will learn how to edit slides in Microsoft PowerPoint 2003, including working with content layouts, custom bullets, color schemes, numbered lists, line spacing, tab stops, the ruler bar, and the format painter. We will cover using tables to organize information, changing their appearance, and how to link data from Microsoft Excel so updates appear automatically in your presentation. We will also discuss notes pages and show you how to print slides, notes, handouts, and outlines. This is lesson 102.TranscriptWelcome to PowerPoint 102, brought to you by PowerPointLearningZone.com.I'm your instructor, Richard Rost. In today's class, we are going to cover more about editing your slides. We will go over a lot more of the different content layouts. We will learn about custom bullets, creating your own color schemes, and working with numbered lists. We will also go over line spacing, tab stops, the ruler bar, the format painter, and lots of other things for editing your slides. We will learn about tables in PowerPoint. Tables can be used not only for showing lists of information, such as price lists, but also for laying out your slides and presenting information. I will show you how to insert and create tables and do all kinds of nifty things with them, such as changing borders, colors, styles, and all that good stuff. We will learn how to link a fragment from Microsoft Excel into our PowerPoint slides so we can have updated price information change on the fly as our Excel data changes. Then we will learn about notes pages - what they are, what they are good for, and how to print materials. You will learn how to print your slides, note pages, handouts, and your outline view. There is a lot of good stuff in today's class. This class follows PowerPoint 101. I strongly recommend that you take PowerPoint 101 before taking this class. In this class, I will be using Microsoft PowerPoint 2003. This course is valid for pretty much every version from 97 up to 2003. Obviously, the further back you go, the more changes there will be. PowerPoint 2007 does have some significant cosmetic changes - for example, the menu bar has been replaced with the ribbon. However, if you are using PowerPoint 2007, you should be able to get a pretty good feel for what PowerPoint options are available by watching this class. I recommend you watch each lesson completely through once, then go back over it again while following along with the examples. If you have any questions about the material covered in today's class, please feel free to post them in the student forums. If you are watching this class online or in our M&Kron video player and you are connected to the internet, you will see the student forums pop up just to the right of the video window. You can ask your questions there. If not, you can go to the website, www.PowerPointLearningZone.com, and you will see a link to the student forums. QuizQ1. SummaryToday's video from PowerPoint Learning Zone focuses on enhancing your skills in editing PowerPoint slides. In this class, I am going to explain various content layouts and go deeper into customizing your slides. You will learn how to create your own bullet styles, design custom color schemes, and set up numbered lists for your presentations. I will also show you how to adjust line spacing, set tab stops, work with the ruler bar, and use tools like the format painter to improve the appearance and consistency of your slides. We will explore working with tables in PowerPoint. Tables are useful both for displaying information such as price lists and for organizing the layout of your slides. I will guide you through inserting tables, applying different styles, and modifying borders, colors, and other formatting options. Next, I'll demonstrate how to link a range of data from Microsoft Excel into your PowerPoint slides. This feature allows your presentation to reflect real-time price changes automatically whenever your Excel data is updated. We will also go over notes pages, discussing their purpose and the benefits they offer. You will discover the different printing options available, including how to print your slides, notes pages, handouts, and outlines, making it easier to prepare materials for your audience. This course builds on the fundamentals taught in PowerPoint 101, so I recommend completing that class first if you have not already done so. Throughout the lessons, I use Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 as my example. The material covered applies to versions from 97 through 2003. While PowerPoint 2007 introduces some interface changes, such as the transition from the menu bar to the ribbon, you should still be able to follow along and understand the options available in later versions by watching this tutorial. To get the most out of this class, I suggest watching each lesson all the way through, then replaying it while practicing the examples on your own. If you have questions about any topic discussed in this video, you are welcome to participate in the student forums. You can find a link to the forums on the PowerPoint Learning Zone website. You can find a complete video tutorial with step-by-step instructions on everything discussed here on my website at the link below. Live long and prosper, my friends.
