Sorry folks, but it looks like our cloud storage provider, Wasabi, is having some technical problems. Some users reported earlier that our videos aren't playing, I checked their status page and it looks like they're having a domain hosting service problem at their end. Bottom line: nothing will play until they get their issue fixed.

I just switched to Wasabi a few months ago and this is the first major problem they've had. They've been very reliable, fast, and honestly a whole lot less expensive than my previous provider (AWS). So I can't complain. I was hoping the adage "you get what you pay for" wouldn't bite me in the behind, but we'll see. If the problem isn't fixed in a couple hours, I'll get on the horn with their tech support and be angry Hulk.

I apologize for the inconvenience. It's beyond my control at this point. However, in the mean time, you can enjoy some of my TechHelp videos. Those are all still hosted on YouTube, and they're working. :)

I'm happy to say that everything seems to be back to normal. I'll give Wasabi credit: they had a problem that was beyond their control but they handled it professionally, responded to my emails in a timely fashion (from the CEO no less), and resolved it as quickly as possible. Almost every Internet provider has someone else in the chain above them that can cause them problems. For me, it was Wasabi. For them, it was GoDaddy. Even GoDaddy has had issues before. It's all how you handle the problems that matters. So I give Wasabi a thumbs up.

And based on the explanation of the problem this appears to be an extremely rare one-time issue. Of course, if it happen again then I'll have to re-evaluate my choice of providers, but I know how problems can occur. I've been in the Tech industry since 1992. Pardon my French, but "shit happens." It's how you deal with it that counts. I use GoDaddy myself to host the web site. At least once every 2 years we have a major outage lasting a day or more. Over time, however, they've been pretty reliable and do deliver the 99.9% uptime they advertise, otherwise I would have bounced long ago. Even YouTube and Facebook have outages sometimes. It's unavoidable. I am considering a backup location for all of my videos though. I do have them all backed up here in-house, but if Wasabi were to suddenly go out of business, I would have to re-upload TERABYTES of video to another provider. I did it 4 months ago when I switched from AWS to Wasabi and it took DAYS.

Service just came back online for me. So all seems well again. However, if you still can't play videos or download ZIP files, you may need to wait for the DNS to propagate. What does that mean? Well, the DNS (domain name service) is basically a list that translates a name (like to an IP address (like If that service goes down, your computer has no idea how to find the destination server. This is what happened with Wasabi. Their DNS provider (GoDaddy) shut off their service. Once it's turned back on, it can take a few hours for this change to propagate throughout all of the other servers on the Web. But... everything should be back up and running as normal shortly.

Last night, I complained directly to the CEO of Wasabi, David Friend (our cloud provider who hosts our videos and downloads). My email said:

Hi David. As you're aware, your service is experiencing problems today. My whole site is down. I use Wasabi for hosting my video files. My site depends on video! I am aware that your technicians are aware of the problem, but I'm just voicing my disappointment. I switched to you from AWS expecting a smooth ride. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again.
