Im using Microsoft 2003. In column A I have a list of names (which can be repeated) and in column B I have an amount. I need a formula to calculate a total amount from all records with a selected name.



For example, from the table below, the total for Amy woud equal 32 (30+2)

Amy          30     

Joe          15

Simon        10

Joe          11

Matt          1

Amy           2



Please can you help, it would be very much appreciated.

You could use the SUMIF function

You can use the SUMIF and COUNTIF functions to add up or count values based on specific criteria, respectively.
