Happy Monday. Be Excellent to Each Other.
Richard Rost

Happy Monday, everyone. I'm back in the office today, catching up on customer service emails and working on recording some new videos for you all. Before diving into the week, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of one of the core values of this community: kindness and respect.

Recently, I've noticed a few posts in the forums that didn't quite meet this standard. While it's great to see people actively engaging and helping each other, I want to emphasize that this space is meant for learning and collaboration, not criticism. If you're offering corrections or feedback to someone, please do so in a kind and constructive manner. It's important that everyone feels comfortable asking questions here, no matter their experience level, without fear of being criticized or belittled.

This community thrives when we support each other. It's not about showing off what you know or proving how smart you are (myself included). Instead, it's about helping others grow, learn, and achieve a deeper understanding of the topics we discuss.

Let's all work together to maintain a welcoming environment where everyone feels encouraged to participate. After all, we were all beginners at one point, and a little patience and empathy go a long way.

And let's not forget the immortal words of two very wise men, William S. Preston, Esq. and Theodore Logan: "Be excellent to each other. Party on, dudes." That's how I live my life, and that's how I expect people to conduct themselves in my house.

Let's have an amazing rest of the year. Lots to do still!

@ Richard, that movie is still on my list, Netflix please?
I won't miss the dissing that's crept into the site. We all need a little help sometimes, even to confirm some odd Access behavior, without a pompous response from a know-it-all.

Just a final note, everyone here, with the exception of one, has been very kind and helpful. I've been to two other forum sites on Access, and the flaming is incredible. I had one jerk say that what I was asking about was impossible in any database in this world. So, the database I worked in for 40+ years (and did what I asked about) was out of this world? Some of the know-it-alls there seem to have nothing better to do all day than respond to every thread with their (often misguided) arrogant 2 cents. Glad to be here in your house.

That's my goal... to have a judgement-free zone where everyone can feel comfortable LEARNING.

Who needs social media when you have Access Learning Zone.

This is home for me.

Hi Thomas, a person with 40 years of experience like you should not get all tied up in a knot by random nobodies on the Internet.  People say what people say, and whatever bad character they have or bad things they say, karma will take care of that in real life; it always does.  That's what life does: it gives you back what you put in.  Right now, you need to put in no energy in thinking about some rando on the Internet and give yourself some peace.  Peace is what Richard's message of about after all.

This thread is now CLOSED. If you wish to comment, start a NEW discussion in Captain's Log.
