Save Changes to Multiple Tables
Mark Fannin

I have a text box on a form where the value changes when people edit it.  For example, the number of changes to a customers order.  An employee will record the number of changes to the order, from 1 to 2 and later to 3 or 4 etc.  When the form is saved the new number is updated in the underlying table.  But I want that new number to also be saved in another table as well.  Is this possible?  Many thanks.  Mark in Colorado.

Is there a real need to save the value in 2 places? Can't the value simply be looked up if needed?

I need to be more clear on the goal ....  The change number is saved to the underlying table (primary table for the database)  and the field is updated to reflect the most current change number.  There is another table where I need to track each change number and what data was changed.  So I created a change log table as per the video Richard published.  I track new comments via the change table.  But I now need to assoicate each change number with the changed data/comments.  So I wanted the change number on the main form (which is saved to the primary table) to also be saved to the change table.  I know this is complicated and if I'm not explaning it clearly let me know.  All the best you.

Sounds like what you need is a simple INSERT INTO statement to append the changes to your Change Log.
Action Queries are covered in the SQL 2 Seminar.

Remember, your comments, being a string value, will need to be enclosed in Double Double Quotes.
