Access in Office 2021 Search on Only One Field
Patricia Kung

In Access in office 2013, I could highlight one column in a table and then do a Find and it would search only that column. In my new access for 2021 it no longer works that way. Is there someplace I can tell it, if I highlight one column and do a Find that it will only look in that column?

In the Find Dialog there should be a Look in dropdown list. It will have 2 options - Current Field and Current Document. Make sure Current Field is selected.

Thank you. I just found this and tried it and hopefully that will stay set that direction so that it only looks at one column. Thanks so much for your help.

This suggestion worked in one of my databases but not in all of my databases. In some of my databases it just switches back to Current document no matter how many times I tell it to use current field. Is there some other place I need to fix this problem? Greatly appreciate any Help. Thanks

I'm not sure what changed but it seems to be working now. In my old Access database office 2013 I could set it to Look in current field and it would stay that way without having to choose it each time. Does anybody know how to get that set up so it will stay as "current field" during a Find? Thanks  ( fixed a typo in the one I just posted.)  It doesn't look like there's any good way to edit if you see a typo after you've posted it. :-)

Another source gave me input that I could create a macro and then put it on a shortcut on the quick Access bar. That works pretty good but is there a way for me to tell it in the macro to set it for "Current Field" ? Your help is appreciated. Thanks
