Set Default Value for New Record
Mark Fannin

When I start a new record form, I need it to have a default sharepoint file location already populated when the new record form opens.  This is to help direct the User to a location where they will add a new folder.  I've researched using hyperlinks, default values in tables and form controls and Richard's followhyperlink videos - some of which add parentheses which inhibits the followhyperlink command for working.  All of the above work for existing forms but I need to populate as a default feature when the new record form starts.  That's the rub.  As usual - many thanks to you all.  Mark in Colorado.

Tried that and once the default value is entered Access puts " " around it.  Then the link (sharepoint folder link) doesn't work.
I was able to get a method to work though.  What do you think about this:  I put some VBA code in the form's on load event with an IF/THEN statement populating the link with the sharepoint folder location.  It works though  :)    thank you for taking time to reply.  All the best to you Alex.

How are you opening the link?
Just make it a text field instead.

Alex, based on your reply, I examined the form design tools and noticed the "Link" control.  Never even thought about that one.  It works great.  Like it was made for it (yes, I am caining myself a bit).  Thank you for the help.  I think I need to 'play' around with Access for a bit instead of burying my head in work tasks.  All the best to you.
