Requery Button From Search 20

Hi - I have a question regarding the Requery button from the Search 2.o video. I created a search form and have an AND and an OR Search button and they work great. The results of eh query are output to a continuous form. However, for the requery button, I followed all the directions exactly multiple times and it does not work. If I just put a value in any search field and press enter, or click on the requery button nothing happens. I wrote in the editor:  Me.Requery between the sub and end sub commands for the OnClick for the RequeryBTN. I double checked spellings of btn names etc. And all is correct. I set the button in the properties to be the default as well. I close and reclose the forms, save everything, rebooted Access. It's not working. I'd

Also - I noticed that for ONCLICK in the properties it says Embedded Macro. Is that going to make a difference? And I cant get access to the Macro Builder to see what's in it. When i click on the ... it takes me straight to the Code Builder without any options. Only does that on this button.

You might be right on the embedded macro thing.  The good news is that you can change that even if you can't see it.

Step Zero  Back up your database
1 Open the form in question
2. Click on form design.
3. look under tools and choose  Convert Form's macros to visual basic.

Delete Embedded Macro, then click the Builder Button.

Thank you for your help. I tried these. doesn't work. Still nothing. after I converted the macros to VBA, still nothing. I can now see all the code for the other search buttons in the Code Builder, and they work fine, and the Me.Requery code is still there, but when I click on the button it does nothing.

What is the button supposed to Requery?

try to commend out anything that says "on error" and it will tell you a little more about what's going on.

I am trying to requery a search - the query that is attached to the And/Or Search buttons. When I put in a new value in the search text boxes and hit enter or click the requery button, its supposed to requery the new values I put in. I got this right out of Richard's Search Form 2.0 YouTube Video. I noticed the instructions did not specifically state to bind the QUERY BUTTON to a from or data source. Thank you!

Hi Bill - thank you for the suggestion, but what do you mean by "commend out?" thanks!

I am wondering if this is not working because the form showing the search results are not embedded in the search from. A Search from the search opens a separate Continuous form. The Requery button is on the Search from, not on the Search results form. Do you think this is the issue?

comment out would mean putting a ' in front of the line so that they don't run   They will turn a different color when you do.

Hi guys - Thank you for all your help. I figured it out and its working perfect now! The problem was I used Me.Requery.  The instructions on the YoutTube said to use that but in the video the list of items was directly in that form.  My "Form" had the search command but my results were being placed in a separate continuous form.  I changed Me.Requery to Forms!ContinuousSearchF.Requery and it worked! Thanks for all your suggestions. Learning a lot here. Doing the Search Seminar and just started the Developer Series. THANK YOU!
