Search Multiple Fields in Combo Box
Nael Abdo

After having watched "Filter Combo As You Type" and "Search Multiple Fields" Tech Help videos, I'm wondering if it's possible to combine the two and search multiple fields in a combo box, filtered as you type. I am building a job entry form (JobF) for my machining workshop. To enter client info, ClientName (full company name) and ClientNameShort (abbreviated name / logo) are autofilled (with DLookUp) depending on the chosen ClientID.
This is where my problem lies: I want a single combo box to search through and pick from a list of both ClientName and ClientNameShort, once a client is picked, an "Add" button is clicked to link ClientID to JobID, given that the client-job relationship is one-to-many.

Does the combo contain both fields?

Alex JobF is based on JobT, which has ClientID linking it to ClientT. The combo box (let's call it ClientSearchCombo) contains ClientID, ClientName, and ClientNameShort. I want to be able to search through both name fields simultaneously so that if i remember the full name of a company i can search for it, and if i remember the abbreviated name, i can search for that instead. And as stated before, once a client is picked, the Add button links ClientSearchCombo.Value to the current job's ClientID. Take your time responding as I will be on vacation this weekend, your efforts are much appreciated! :)

What happens currently when you search?

I figured it out, I guess vacation time payed off! The way it works is:
Unbound ClientSearchCombo on JobF with its Row Source set to ClientSearchQ > ClientSearchQ concatenates all client name fields into one *without criterea* > The filtering is applied on the ClientSearchCombo_Change() event as per "Filter Combo" video above > Pressing the Add button sets Me.ClientID = Me.ClientSearchCombo then Me.ClientSearchCombo = Null. Works without needing a hidden ClientID text box on JobF. Also adding a DoEvents in the On Change event before ClientSearchCombo.Dropdown removes buggy behaviour when typing.
