Requisition Form

I have a requisition form that we fill out when we request parts. I currently have a 9 block section but at time my guys request more than nine items, I would like to keep the nine items on the display but be able to have it expand out if the need arises to add more times.

Hi Shane,

You need to take the stock information and put it in a child table. This section should be made a subform so that you can have as many child records as you want and always show 9 at any given time.

This video should help you are looking for one-to-many relationship.  One requisition many stock items.

Hi Sammi just thought about this and think this may be a good video to make. Richard does not have one to cover this.  Lets say the form can only do 9 items on page 1 and the rest on a continuation sheet.  so once a recodr reaches 10 it will automatically move the information or lets say the form is 3 pages long the 3 pages will look the same just that a continued form will be  added.  This be a cool lego for the tool box.

Juan Good morning.

That is an interesting way of approaching this. I would start with a subform on the child table from the outset.

Juan that is what I was kind of thinking as a possible solution, but I am unsure how to approach that. So…unless Richard decides to do a video I’ll just start a sub form.

Sami creating a new table that the requisitions reside in how will that impact my existing information?  Secondly I’m trying to decide what the relationship would be between the two tables. The requisition number, or the shop that has submitted the request?

Hi Shane.

You've only gone as far as lesson 4 in Access Beginner One. My advice is to continue with those lessons, and that will show you exactly what you need to do.

Thank you Sami, not exactly what I expected but thank you. I’ll continue on.

Hi Shane.

Look at my badges. You'll see a number three. When I first came to this site 3 years ago, I knew as much about Access as you do now. And I was trying to do what you are doing, which is to start sprinting before I mastered walking. I was impatient to get my databases up and running.  I was jumping from one video to the other and I was frustrating myself.  Not all the concepts were clicking in my head.  Then Richard, I can't remember in which video, I know he says it a few times. Go through the courses from beginning to end. That's what I did. I put my head down, and in about a year, I finished all the courses and watched every single tech help video.

The other moderators helped me tremendously, and here I am, a moderator myself, helping others.

I second that I was the same way and with the help of Richard and Moderators I started to understand more.  I did the same started with the free stuff and moved on to more.  I recall several years back saying the same thing Sami just said.   :) when you snatch the pebble grashopper ...  you will be with us helping others also.

I appreciate you both and yes I admit I was seeking instant gratification. I apologize if my “I’ll continue on” statement was perceived to be snarky, not my intention. I meant I will continue on with my education.

Don't worry, we know exactly how you feel. All is good.
