Export a Report From a Secure Access File
Kim Boren

Hello,
I have an access program and I am using the simple security shift click two times to start the access program so my tables, queries, forms and reports are not accessible to the users. I have a report the user chooses a begin date and end date for a report. Everything works fine. This computer is not hooked up to a printer and I would like to export this report to a thumb drive. This is where I could use some help. How do I export this report to a thumb drive?
Thanks Kim

Hi Kim, I don't know if you are trying to do this once or are trying to do something else. if you are looking for a 1 time occurance you could Rt click on report, print preview, rt click on report, export, PDF.  John

Is it within range of a wifi signal?   The reason I'm asking is that with security being one of your concerns literally anyone can walk by with a usb jump drive and take your data and you may have provided the menu to do it.   It would be better to get it on a network and have that file sent to you that way.   Using a manual IP without a gateway will still leave the internet out of reach for it.   Just make sure the address you choose is out lf the range your dhcp servers assign.

How complex do you want to get?
If you don't mind the user selecting the location to save it. You could set the printer to a PDF printer something like "Microsoft Print to PDF".

If you want it so they just click a button and saves it right to the Thumb drive that will take a little more work since the thumb drive letter can change. I really don't work with thumb drives. I did a quick google search for "vba check what drive letter a thumb drive has" brought up some code that might work. Have not tested it.
