Form Zoom in Design Mode
Robert Braga

Is there any way to zoom in on a form when you're in design mode?  The grid is really small on my screen.  It's not easy to layout and align the controls when the grid dots are so close together.

thanks,
Bob

Robert Unfortunately, the zoom feature is not yet available. The Access Development team has announced it is coming soon this year. Having said that, although you can't change the zoom level, you can change the size of the grid to make it easier for you to line up your objects.

While in design mode, go to Arrange and then Size/Space. You will find the grid information.

In the meantime, use Windows Magnifier.

In your design view when you're laying out your forms go to the "arrange" menu and chdeck out the "align" menu and the "size/Space" menus.   Just get it close and use these me us to add precision to your form.  I use them all the time.
Richard apparently prefers to align things manually so he doesn't talk about it much.  It's not wrong but an intentional bias based on preference.

While you're there also take a look at anchoring.  It;s not perfect but if you're developing for different sized screens this is valuable.

Yeah, consider it personal bias - that's just the way that I got used to doing it because we didn't have a lot of these fancy alignment tools back in the day when I started. I do like things like size to grid, align to grid when you select a bunch of controls then right-click. I'm just not about the layout view. I've had problems with it in the past.

Richard I agree on layout view and datasheet view.  They're both evil.   Pretty soon layout view just gets a mind of its own and datasheet view will confuse users to the point that they'll need support later.

Also, sorry about one thing.  I used the words intentional bias.  I meant to say unintentional.   I didn't mean to imply any bad things but I managed to do it.   Doh!

Oh, it's a definite INTENTIONAL bias. I don't like Layout View. Period. Had lots of problems with it.

I always turn Layout View off with every Form I build. I only turn it back on if I need to align my Labels above a List Box then I turn it off again.
