Check In Check Out
Kenneth

I'm working on a Equipment Check in and Check out database. I have a Employee Table, a Equipment Table, and a CheckOutIn Table. The Employee and Equipment Table are related to the CheckOutIn Table. What I want to do is type the EmployeeNumber from the company (not the Primary Key ID from the database)type in the EquipmentID of the item they want to check out and stamp the check out time. When they check the item back in i want to type the Employee Number bring back that record and stamp the check in Time. now would it be better to do this in one table and keep track of it in one record or have a Check out Table and a check in table?

Reply from Richard Rost:

I would definitely keep everything in one table. You can either have two fields: CheckInDate, CheckOutDate; or you could do a DateTimeStamp field with a Y/N indicating whether it's a CheckIn or not. The first would be easier to implement. The second offers more flexibility.
