Spaces Where They Shouldnt Be

Emailing with Richard Rost and he suggested putting this up here:
Was in Access Developer 32 Lesson (06) Fixer.io - retrieving Forex rates from the Internet. After several attempts of running the code with no result I emailed Fixer Support who spotted the problem straight away. My code was;
URL = "http://data.fixer.io/api/latest?access_*key ="* & MyKey &* " &symbols* = USD,AUD,CAD,NZD,EUR"
Their solution;
URL = "http://data.fixer.io/api/latest?access_*key="* & MyKey & *"&symbols*
=USD,AUD,CAD,NZD,GBP,EUR"
No space between *key and = also no space between &symbols* and =
Problem solved.

Do you test your external Web API calls in a client first?

Hi Alex
Not sure what you're asking. At the moment I'm very much in the developmental stage testing out extracting twenty of the most frequently traded currencies with a view to incorporating into a Dbase where the end user has most of the processes automated and requires minimal action beyond clicking a button to select the base currency.
At this stage I have no clients.
Hope that helps.
I take it your back in England. Left 18 years ago following retirement. Do miss a pint.

I meant ignore Access completely at first :p.
You are integrating an API into your workflow so I find it prudent to test that external API independently to confirm one I know it's working and how it works, two it's easier at first than having to build all the config and code in the system your integrating with (i.e. Access/ VBA)
This is also handy as if there were to be a problem when using it in VBA you can isolate it to is it your code that's the problem or the external API currently has an issue.

Check out WebAPI for an example of what I mean and see if you can apply it to your scenario :-)

Thanks Alex. Took me back thirty years to when I was meddling with DOS and writing config.sys and bat files.
Your WebAPI link will prove very useful to me and save me hours of time.
My system is working perfectly thanks to Richard doing all the heavy lift with his VBA which is capturing the fixer.io Java and translating it.
My only modification was to expand the capture from six to thirty currencies.
Thanks again
