Double Quotes and SQL

Combo box, two fields: the hidden one is the autonumber [in this instance - DBID] field, the other field is a film title [title].

Row source for the combo box = SELECT [DBID], [Title] FROM tblFilmDB ORDER BY [Title];

The problem is that some films have titles such as "I'm Alright Jack".

Attempting to select "I'm Alright Jack" creates problems, having typed "I", Access loses interest and reverts to the first film in the database, the film "10".

Can you post a screen shot showing the problem you're running into?

For your Row Source, if all the options are showing up correctly in the dropdown, then the Row Source part is working correctly.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Access loses interest"...?

On the ComboBox Properties, select the Format Tab:
Make sure the Column Count is 2
Make sure the Column Widths is 0"; 3" (or big enough you can see the whole Title)

On the ComboBox Properties, select the Data Tab:
Make sure the Bound Column is 1

This issue can occur because Access's combo box search (autocomplete) struggles with apostrophes (') or other special characters in the text field, especially when typing to match entries. Access tends to treat those as delimiters, and when it gets confused, it reverts to the first matching record (often numerically first, like "10").

Consider in design mode on the combobox find AutoExpand and set to no.  Consider Limit to List set as Yes.  Make sure your Rowsource is set correctly.

Also make sure of the bound column number dn Column count.

It's happened to me at least once.
