Email Salutation Final Last Note

Richard always says to not be afraid of VBA and with a little bit of code you can do some really cool stuff!  Well, he is right as usual! I send out emails daily to customers I have seen that day as a Thank You. I wanted to have the salutation have a different message depending on the time of day the email was sent, Good morning, good afternoon or good evening.  With that, I wanted the final note to correspond to the salutation to say either have a fantastic morning, afternoon , or evening! And I did it!! All because of this forum! I know this is not earth shattering or anything but to me it felt great to create!  Thanks for doing what you do Richard and all the others for the community of learning you have created!

I should mention, I had the send email code already in my DB with a recordset that looped through my daily customer visits  to create the email. This was just an addition. It’s the little things people!

That's awesome, and yeah, it's the little things like that that really add personal touches to your database. I recently (within the last year or two) added a field for a nickname to my database because I respond to all of the customer service emails directly from my database.

So if someone puts in their first name as Thomas, then that goes in the first name field when they place their order or sign up as a member. But through talking to people, if someone signs off an email as Tom, I can see that they don't mind being called that as a nickname, so I put that in the nickname field. Now my salutation instead of saying "Dear Thomas" will always say "Dear Tom."

But I wouldn't presume that because I've known people in the past who don't like the assumed nickname that everyone takes for granted. (I'm talking to you, James.) LOL

Cool idea sir! I have the first name  in the salutation but I  may have to steal this idea! Please keep doing what you are doing and I will keep learning. Fun stuff!
