Transfer Forms Using VBA
Mark Desens

Hi Richard, I have an Idea about transferring forms from the current database your working on to a different database that is already split. I have a backup where I do all my changes to forms, queries, modules etc. Instead of going through all the steps to transfer the updated form, Why can't we just open a form and choose the updated form from a dropdown list to be transferred to the already split database. Then by the click of a button the updated form automatically gets transferred to the split database. IT automatically checks to see if the old form is there which it will be, then a pop up msgbox will ask if we want to replace the old form with the new form. we just say yes. Of all we can do on our database even our split database we should be able to do that using VBA code and a combobox.

You might check out the Save As Text video.

Hi matt, that is part of what I learned using chatgpt and google also. I did research and learned not only save as text but also to use vba code to check to see if a form already exists on my split one then a different code to send the updated form from my backup to the split one. Wow the stuff we can do with it.

You might be talking about the LoadFromText function.  Richard covers that in the video as well.  You're right, it is amazing how versatile Access is.

Hey Matt, I have a different question for you. In a combo box can I choose three items one at a time and have them copied to a text box? Example, in a table you have all the states. On a form you have a combobox that has those states in order. I also have a text box I’m using like the states box like Richard’s video on the Statusbox. I’d like to choose 2 or more states from the combobox and have them copied to the Statusbox. Is that possible to do that?

Hi Mark, you can use the multiple values option in.a combo or list box and the user can select multiple values then you can loop through and report those in the status box.

I know Richard shows this in several developer videos but haven't found them on my phone yet.... Will update you when I do

Hi Kevin, can you select multiple items from a combobox, but one at a time. As you select one it shows in the status box one at a time?

Yes but the value of the Combo Box will change each time so there is still only one item being selected.

There is a way to store multiple values with a Combo Box and that is with the Lookup Wizard.
This is NOT recommended. See Evil Access Stuff

Kevin Thanks for correcting me. I responded too quick forgetting that the multi-select "Combo Box"es that I used I had actually created with vba and other hidden controls to simulate the effect.
