Lesson 6 List Box of Accounts

You mentioned in Lesson 6 @time 13:00 that you might do totals of accounts in the list box to show total assets. Is that still a possibility? I run financials for 3 non profit organizations (each have their own completely separate databases) and would like to look at the total assets at a glance.

Also, I am using the helper tables as I am working with different banks (BankID), Types of Accounts - check, Savings, CDs, Petty Cash - (SourceID) and different Funds (General, Restricted, Relief, etc) (FundID).  I created the Helper Tables based on your Association Videos. How do I use the Helper Tables and links to the different IDs to create the list box?

Kathy

If all 3 of your Accounts are Access Databases, you can link to the tables of all 3 Accounts in one database using the same method described in Ricks Splitting your Database video.

How do I use the Helper Tables and links to the different IDs to create the list box?   I'm not sure what you're asking here.

Raymond I'm sorry, I wasn't clear with my explanation.  I manage the finances for the 3 organizations but they are completely separate entities. My goal is to get one up and running and then use that database as a template for the other 2. They won't be linked in any fashion. My problem is using helper tables and making them work with the multiple bank accounts, tax line items, etc. that are used.

To clarify: I am building a database to manage the finances for an American Legion Post. We have members that I need to track demographic data for and vendors that provide products that we sell. I used the Association Tech Help videos to create the basic database in which Richard used helper tables to consolidate many small tables. This is where I put all the information for demographics for membership.

Now I am trying to incorporate the check register information into the Association Database. I included the bank information, fund types, etc. into the helper table. I made a separate table combination for the tax accounting information because I need to create cascading combo boxes for account/category information.

I was able to create the list box to display the source information on my menu but I cannot make the on double click event work to get to the register. Do I need to just break out the bank/source/fund information into their own tables or is there a way to use the helper table information to get to my register from the list box?
