I Have a Similar Enter Parameter Value
Chris Tyson

I have a similar parameter value error as did Monica.  Mine is a little different.  I have a main form and on that form is a Subform called SubformCtl so I can use the labels to open different forms as Richard showed us to do.  3 of the 4 work flawlessly, but the Collections label, there is a list box on that CollectionF that is causing the error.  The list box is pulling the JobID from the JobCombo combobox.  I understand is a loading sequence issue.  Any help trying to fix this would be helpful.  The work around right now is just to enter the JobID from the main form (which is visible).  I will attach an image of the form in design mode and an image of the Row Source SQL Editor for the list box.

I also used the Me.Parent!JobCombo code as you can see, and I get the same parameter value error.  I can enter the JobID and it will populate the list box.

Hi Chris,

I think your problem is you're trying to reference Forms!CollectionF!JobCombo directly, but since it is in a subform control, you would need to take that into consideration.

For example:

Forms!JobF!SubformCtl.Form!JobCombo

Donald That still doesn't work.  I even added the form name after Form!CollectionF!JobCombo.  Still get the parameter error.  Still can enter JobID and the information populates.

OK, then I guess maybe I made a bad assumption, sorry.

The main (outer) form in blue appears to be JobF. Then an outer subform control under the tabs that I assumed was the one you identified as SubformCtl which in the picture shows the Collections.

In the top part of that subform is a combo box with the label "Job" and it shows its source to be JobID. Is the listbox you're talking about the large "Unbound" area below located above the inner subform?

If not, might need to see the properties box for each relevant control selected in the main and subform to be clear on what we're looking at. I would also recommend double checking again that the control names match what you're looking for, i.e. that the name of the combo box on the subform was changed to JobCombo instead of JobID.

Donald All of your assumptions about the form are correct.  I did confirm the name on the combo box for Job: JobID is JobCombo.  This form worked with a button on the main job form (JobF) until I moved it into the Subform Control (SubFormCtl), that's when this Enter Parameter error started showing up.  I think it's a timing issue on how and when the forms load as Richard said in QQ#91, that the inner subforms load first before the parent, so the list box can't get the JobID from the parent form (CollectionF).
