Access Beginner Level 1 files

Are the subject as above data files really available? When I downloaded and tried to open the zip file offered on my Windows 11 64-bit system, an error resulted and the file did not open.

What was the error?
Did you extract the files?

When I copied the provided zip file to my screen and attempted to open it (i.e., click on it twice), I get the following message:

"This database was created with the 32-bit version of Access. Please open it with the 32-bit version of Access."

Perhaps it's not a zip file as cited?

Hi Ken, which files are you getting that error on specifically and where did you download them. I've just downloaded all the zip files from Access Beginner 1 through Access Beginner 3 and all the Zip files of the database worked fine for me on my Win 11 / 64-bit system.

I only had to do two things:

1) Remove the "Mark of the Web" - right click each database file after downloading and check "Unblock"

2) Either save to a Trusted Location or click "Enable Content" so that macros and code would run.

I'm curious as to what is causing your issue as I usually only see that if I try to open a project that has a lot of macros or VBA that was compiled in 32-bit and/or if it's an accde file that wasn't modified to work on 64-Bit Access

Many thanks to Alex, Kevin and Donald for your expert help! I have been able to resolve my difficulties downloading the sample Access Beginner Level 1 data files. One of the problems I had was pinpointing the best entry point online to the information needed. There are a gazillion Learning Zone postings, from various eras, on Google which made it difficult for me to know where to start. Helps, too, to obtain student status. V/R, KB

Next question: What is the right character string to use to access the site and, for example, navigate to the Access Beginner Level 1 information? I want to set up an icon on my screen I can click on to get directly to the site.

Is it https://599cd.com/ABCD1 ?  V/R, KB

Glad you got it sorted out. I'm not sure if I went through and updated all of those old databases to 64-bit. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't. A lot of the older ones might be in 32-bit, but the good news is there's no 64-bit specific code in any of them. All you really have to do to use those older databases is create a new blank database in your Access 64-bit and then import all of the objects from the old database files, and they'll work just fine. There was no bit-specific code in any of those, especially the beginner lessons where there is no VBA code.

The easiest way to find your courses is not necessarily to remember those links. Those are just short links to make site navigation easier for when I post on other places, other sites. The easiest way to get to your courses is to use the My Courses link up top on the menu bar.
