Problems in access
Avi Davidov

Richard Hi,

1. about the Grid, Thanks.

2. Maybe i missed something in lessons, but I can't find the way to show fields from a query on a form, other than as combo box.
I want to show results from a very complicated query as a field in my form.
Maybe I can do it by (dlookup) or something, I can't find the answer.

3. If you didn't understand, I'll try to be more specific. When I have in my form fields starting with "=" with some kind of formula (count, sum etc.), when I try to conect this form to another form (open form button or form in form), in the Wizard Match field the current form fields list is empty, so I can't match field from this form to the other form. Can I send you the screenshot shows the problem by email ?

4. In addition, I'v one more question, I don't the function little helper, when I hit "=", it just doesn't start.

p.s

I'm very happy with your lessons. I started at begginers 1, without knwoing anything about access, and now I'm enjoing expert 5, and building my Law Firm database By myself.

Thanks

Avi Davidov

Reply from Richard Rost:

1. You're welcome.

2. A form should be based on a table or a SIMPLE query. If you've got tons of join lines, then your form may not be editable. If you need to display other information from a different, related table, then yes, you should use DLOOKUP.

3. You can't use those calculated values to form relationships between two forms. Access doesn't work that way. In fact, you can't always even be sure those values are THERE at any given point in event programming either. For example, the OnOpen event might fire before an =SUM() is calculated.

4. What version of Access are you using? Where isn't the helper starting?
