Focus Cursor on first field RESOLVED

12 years ago
I figured it out on how to set up a form so the cursor always appears on the first field of a form after making a prior form entry. This way, you don't have to use your mouse to place the cursor in the first field in your new blank form.

Open Form in Display View and click on "Properties".

Click on "Event" tab and then click on the small blue square with the three dots in it.

Now select "Code Builder and then hit "Okay."

Between the following 2 lines, "Private Sub Form_Current()"

"End Sub"

Enter the following code:

If Me.NewRecord = True Then
Me.MyFirstControlNameHere.SetFocus
End If

Only difference is that you replace the section MyFirstControlNameHere. with the name you use for the actual field.
Since my field name has a special character in it '/", I have to enclose it in brackets.

So this is what my entire code looks like:

Private Sub Form_Current()
If Me.New Record = True Then
Me.[Incoming/Outgoing].SetFocus
End If

Works like a charm!
