Expense Information
Ramona W

I started my database by doing the payables seminar course. So it is exactly the same where the bills, category, payments, recurring are concerned. (I loved the seminar and what the database was capable of).

Then I started making changes according to what I wanted my database to have. Such as:
1. The seminar bases the category on the payee (I want it based on the line item in DetailF).
2. I wanted a subcategory too.
3. BillF - I want to use it like it was intended with payments recurring etc. You get a bill, you enter it into the database, then you pay it LATER.
4. I created ReceiptF for actual purchases made at a store that are paid RIGHT AWAY, to track other expenses such as groceries, office supplies etc. So to me, it is not a bill but a receipt. So you get home, enter the receipt, and you are done.

If I used the BillF for a Receipt, I would have to enter it as a bill, then click the make payment button etc, or BillF would show a balance owing, which would also screw up the Accounts Payable report results. And I didn't want to have to do the extra data entry.

If you have a better solution, I am all ears.  Again thanks for the help. I am trying to get this figured out so that I can start entering data ASAP!

Reply from Alex Hedley:

Because you've linked two Tables off the Detail when you try and enter one it shouts because it needs a record relating to the other.

Why not have a Form that enters the information into both tables, one at a time, so you enter the Bill Amount and it adds it to the BillT then the PaymentT so it covers both?
