Dlookup

Just finished watching Access expert 10.
Up to this point my own databases have been using query builders as the record source.  This seems way easier than typing in Dlookup code.
For example, my database revolves around individual jobs. A subform tracks Reviews for each job. A command button opens a Comment form for each review. It has info from the job and the reviewer in the detail section of the form. And it has a subform to enter individual comments.
Is it wrong to get the info using the record source query builder on the form property sheet?
So far, it works. And seems much easier than writing multiple Dlookup statements.
     Dlookup or query?
But most importantly, why?

Reply from Alex Hedley:

DLookups are useful if you need a summary piece of data, Rich adds them on the Main Menu to get a snapshot of values, maybe total sales for the day etc.
Some people prefer to make a Query in the navigation pane so you can set it to that in the Record Source and use it in multiple places.
Others like it in code so it doesn't fill up the Navigation Pane, horses for courses.
