Id like to build an Access database that links to and retrieves my Outlook contacts and my sent emails. While I was able to link to and retrieve this data into separate Access tables, Im having trouble creating an AutoNumber primary key and establishing a relationship between the two tables.

Primary Key

When linking to my Outlook contacts, a primary key is automatically created and is attached to an Access field called Normalized Subject. This is a short text field and is populated with the combined first and last names for each record. I tried to change the fields data type to AutoNumber, but when I tried saving the table I received the operation not supported for this type of object message. I also tried removing the record content from the Normalized Subject field and tried creating a new field in the table. I was able to do neither.

Table Relationships

I then wondered what fields Id use to establish the relationship between the contacts table and my sent emails table. I thought Id use the email address for each contact in the contact table and the email address in the to field in the send emails table. But it doesnt look like this will work because the records in these fields are not uniform. Sometimes the to field contains the recipient's name, not their email address. Sometimes the email appears as an expression with a single quotation mark on each side of the address ([email protected]). When I try to delete the quotation marks, I receive a message that I cant because its part of an expression.

Im using Access 2016 and Outlook 2016.

I would be grateful for any advice or direction.
