Append Query copying data twice
Jim Byers

O.K. I've got another one I don't understand.

I've set up a query to transpose or append relevant information to a NewCustomerT table from the existing CustomerT table.
I've set this up on the originating table/form to send the data to the new table/form rather than calling for it from the new table/form. Not sure if that is relevant.

I wrote the query as an append query, and then called for that query from a command button on a form. In the process, Access 2016 has embedded a macro. Is that normal?
It all seems above board and logical.

I'm going to try posting pics here for the first time. Not sure if it will appear as a link or the image itself. So bear with me. I'm experimenting. (again)

This is the query as I wrote it.

It Works just as I wanted it to.

Except, it does it twice. As in, fills the same data into two rows of the new table instead of just one.

Please, what did I do wrong?

Hi Jim. First, you can't embed any images or links in posts in my Forums. I disabled any links or tags for security reasons. I had one customer who thought he was being cute - posted an image embedded from his web site for me to look at (like you did) and then after the conversation was over he changed the image to something inappropriate. So, since then I don't allow images. I'm working on a way you can upload images to my site to be included in your posts, but that's a feature I haven't implemented yet.

Now with regard to your query. REMOVE NewCustomerT from the input tables. That's why you're getting two records. Only the SOURCE table should be listed there. You specify NewCustomerT when you click on the APPEND button in the Query Type section of the Ribbon.

Spot on. So easy, when you know how. Thank you.
Comment on images noted. In this particular case, I felt this was the only way to let you see the query as I wrote it. VBA code can just be cut 'n pasted but queries? Any suggestions for if this situation ever arises again?

SQL view. And you're right... Being able to see that query I knew immediately what the problem was.

Richard, when you state REMOTE the table, I assume you mean REMOVE the table?
