Here's what's coming up soon...

ACCESS DEVELOPER 14 - EASY ACCESS POS

I'm continuing to work on Access Developer 14 today. I was hoping to release the next lesson last week, but I had an emergency problem on the web site that took me 3 days to fix and set me back. In any case, look for that soon. If you're interested in joining the class as we build the POS system, here's a link: Access Developer 14

ACCESS DATABASE BACKUP

I've got two new templates coming out that I'm going to be releasing soon. One is a form you can include in your database that performs nightly backup of your ACCDB files to a backup folder. I use it to make a backup to a Google Drive synched folder, and then all my database info is kept safely offsite. I'll make a video showing how to do this.

FRONT END UPDATE - OBJECT COPY

The second template has been asked about by a few people. I call it the Access ObjectCopy database. What it does is allow remote UPDATE of your objects across a network setup. So, let's say you've got the typical LAN setup where you have a split database with front-end copies on your workstations, and the back-end tables on your server (or even have your front-ends connected to SQL Server). You need to make a design change to one of the forms. Now you have to run around and update the front-end databases on all the machines. This database does that for you. You can "push" updates to the server, and the local databases will all "pull" them down on a schedule you can set. I built this over the past month and have had it working in my office with good success. I'll be posting it soon. Still one or two little bugs I have to fix.

BACKUP REMOTE DATA

Yet another database I've been working on has to do with backing up data from one table to another in different locations. This runs over the Web. You set up a database on your web server and that acts as an intermediary to allow you to copy data back and forth. This one is still in the works. I have it working great from one system to another (PC to server or vice versa). Adding in that third system is in the works right now.

These are the things I do in my spare time. :)

For those of you who are interested in these various projects, LET ME KNOW. Say something in the comments below. The more people that I know are interested in a topic, (a) the faster I'll try to get it released, and (b) the more time and effort I'll put into it. These just happened to all be projects to meet a need that I personally have, so I built them - but bells and whistles are things I usually only throw in databases I build for classes.

This thread is now CLOSED. If you wish to comment, start a NEW discussion in Access Forum.
