Hi Tim. You're not a Code Vault subscriber, however you did purchase this seminar, so you can download the template right from this page (see above). The code will be in a module in the database.

Sorry...

You must purchase this class to access the requested resource.

Click the BACK button in your browser and then click the  BUY NOW  button.

I am following the lesson 3 to priny checks and I can noy understand where I get the function for the wording.  I am building my own database and not using a template.  I muust be missing something..

Hope you have a nice holiday...

No need to apologise, so have you been able to locate the code in the sample db through the VBA Editor?
There should be a Module that contains the function.
You would have to create your own Module in your database then copy and paste it from there.

There are a few ways to do this
In the Navigation Pane on the left hand side is a list of all the Objects in the database.
There should be a section called "Modules"
Find the module called "CheckRegCurrencyToEnglishMod" and Copy it, then paste it into your db.

Another option is to click on the "Create" tab, on the far right is a Module button in the "Macros & Code" section.

The third option is open the VBA Editor
Right click on the Database and Insert | Module
Copy the Function from the sample
Paste
Save
Give it a name.

You can then use this Function in your Forms/Queries/Reports etc

Yes, Tim, like Alex said you'll have to copy that module from my database to yours. If you need more help with Access VBA programming, I'd recommend my Access Developer 1 class.

I think I got everything, but when I  go to binf the Description field to say "=CurrencyToEnglishDebitAmount and I close it I get a "Enter Parameter V...  CurrencyToEnglishAmount...

Any thing I did wrong

Check your spelling. #1 reason for unexpected "enter parameter value" prompts.

My mode is named:  CheckRegCurrencyToEnglishMod

and the Control Source of a Copied Description is:  =[CurrencyToEnglishDebitAmount]
Do you ever taje a day off???
Alex Hedley  @Reply

The module is called "CurrencyToEnglishDebitAmount"

The function you want to use is inside the module and called "CurrencyToEnglish".
It takes an argument of a Currency amount so you would need to add the field or value that has your amount in it like

=CurrencyToEnglish([Debit])

Have you gotten to the video where Rich shows this yet?

I find that the mod I find was called
CheckRegCurrencyToEnglishMod

And the Control Source was abeled:
=CurrencyToEnglish([Debit]) & " " & String(120-Len(CurrencyToEnglish([Debit])),"-")

Either way I can not get it work

I just got done watching Lesson #, the mode was called CheckRegCurrencyToEnglishMod.  This is what was typed in, said and was saved.
The Control Source of the copied Description dield was labeled
-CurencyToEnglishDebitAmount..

Just who am I to believe.  I was told to do the abvove with no good results.  If you say something else, I might suggest you listen to the videos..

Gentlemen

I have tried to the best of my ability to get this wording to print on the check I can't do it anymore I've tried over 50 times every which way possible.  is there anyway you could just put the function in a word document and email it to me so I can copy and paste it from there.  Please I need help

The only thing different I can find is the function that actually works has four or  five other functions or sum modes. And I don't know which ones I need to copy and paste.I open that function I don't know if I need to copy all of hem or just the one mentioned in your video.  I need some help, any thing you can give me in the simplest way would be greatly appreciated.

Please I look forward to your reply.

Tim, I recorded an addendum video (above, under the Addendums section) just for you to show you how to copy the module you need into your database and use the CurrencyToEnglish function. It's a very simple process if you know VBA. Again, I only guarantee support for things I show in my lessons. If you're having problems with YOUR database, you can find how to get custom help on my consulting page. Alex and I do our best to help you here in the Forums as much as we can, but it's a courtesy.
