Employee Availability

I'm trying to think of a way that a manager/scheduler could view a particular employee's availability.

Could it really be so simple as having rectangles with the time frame next to it and changing the background color to a particular color?

Maybe a TechHelp in the future?

If you have their items stored already you could display in a calendar using the methods shown:

The Access Work Order Seminar showed you how to work out when someone was available, if thats any help.

Conditional formatting? All depends on how you have the data saved in your table.

Hi Richard, some more advanced conditional formatting techniques would also be helpful.

I have a personnel form that for each employee brings up 12 text boxes each contains critical dates that need to be monitored eg, Contract End Date, ID Card Expiry Date etc.

The text boxes are populated via DLOOKUP and work reliably. I want to colour code them red (expired), amber (6 months) & green (1 year)

All dates entered are in the future.

The issue I have is when you are basing the conditional formatting criteria on countdown to a date in the future.

Any suggestions?

I'd recommend putting the values you need in a query. Put your DLOOKUPs in there. Add another field that is the number of days until that day (D1-D2). Now, you can more easily add conditional formatting to your date fields using those numeric values (which you don't need to show). See this tip for how to do it.

The DLOOKUP is based on a query but only generates the primary date output, this makes the conditional formatting a nightmare.

I didnt think about  putting the calculation in the query and then basing the formatting from there.

Thats why your the Fleet Admiral.
