Aggregate Query Cont Form
Michelle Seidelin

Hello everyone

As the subject suggests I want to feed a continuous form with a Aggregate query like what was taught in level 11 for monthly sales I like to make one of these for monthly sales and yearly sales and display it in a continuous form I am not this sure if you would set it to the record source of the form

Thank you in advance

Sure. The data won't be editable, but you can view it.

How do you tell the form to use a query in date order e.g. 2012 2013

Just add a sort to the query the way you normally would. You may have to feed the results of that query into a 2nd query in order to add a sort or other criteria.

Hello everyone just wondering if anybody had the suggestion why when you build the query the way that Richard shows you it works perfect with yyyy mm but if you add a next M to the month it does not keep the months in order e.g. it may start in April when you have just the two mm it displays properly the query but when you have one or two extra m it will mix up the first two months e.g. August then go back to July then October is a limit in this type aquarium where you can only have the two digit month

"yyyy mm" gives you numbers: 2020 01, 2020 02, etc. Whereas "yyyy mmm" gives you text: 2020 jan, 2020 feb, etc. Access will sort that in ALPHABETICAL order (F before J). If you want it displayed in date order make BOTH fields and sort on the first one.

Hello Richard

If I make one query to pull together although year information and one query to pull in the month information then make another query from the year information and a month information would this put it in the following order year then January February March and so on

Michelle

If further lesson about this please point me into the right direction

Someone else recently asked a question very similar to this. It's in the TechHelp bin. I'll make a video that should help you out. Stay tuned.

Hello Richard

I have just come across one of your tech help videos showing how to show the month instead of the two digits using Mm just wondering if it is possible to get the extended copy if I join for this only and then leave again as I do not have that much finance available to stay supporting you and what moneyed I will have would be able to be go on into future lessons when I get to the end of the experts series as I notice in the extended cut you do show how to show it on a form as well

Yeah, the Extended Cut of the latest TechHelp (Group Sales by Month) shows how to show the month name like you wanted and still keep it sorted in month order. I understand your financial situation. You can sign up for one month and then just cancel it before the 2nd month starts. It's $5.99 US per month to get access to ALL of the Extended Cut videos. There's a lot of good stuff in there. Sign up, keep it for a few weeks, watch as much as you can, cancel if you want after that.

Hello Richard sorry about this but can I use your extended cut parts at the end or in the other query we created in expert level 11

You should be able to, but I'll have to review it to be sure. Which lesson and time index, please?
